Workforce Automation Risk Analysis Group

The primary objective of our project is to examine how exposed the U.S. workforce is to automation and to identify which occupations, states, and metropolitan areas may be most vulnerable. To do this, we applied the computerization probabilities developed by Frey and Osborne (2013), which estimate how susceptible 702 occupations are to automation, to 2025 employment and wage data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Using Power BI, we built interactive dashboards that show the number of jobs potentially exposed to automation, compare computerization rates across occupational groups, estimate potential income exposure, and break down results at the national, state, and metropolitan levels. Rather than predicting exactly how many jobs will disappear, our goal is to highlight where automation exposure is concentrated so that workers, educators, and workforce development programs can better prepare for continued technological change.

Are jobs going away?

We want to use this analysis to see if certain jobs are at risk of going away as a result of AI automation to better prepare our economy and our workforce for potential disruptions that are coming as a result of this new wave of automation

Artificial Intelligence

Is AI as revolutionary of a technology as we think it is? Our study and analysis on workforce automation is not only seeking to study the impacts of AI, but also determine if this is the most revolutionary tool since the invention of factories in the Industrial Revolution.

Our Data

These numbers show a real and present a clear and present  threat to our workforce and economy. We made sure to use comprehensive sources which allowed us to conduct this comprehensive analysis.

Analysis

Our team conducted a comprehensive study that reveals worrying trends for jobs in various industries. We make sense of these trends and the conclusions that we came to are quire shocking!

What Inspired us

Our project is driven by a growing reality: advances in artificial intelligence are poised to reshape the labor market, with millions of jobs at risk of displacement in the coming years. Rather than waiting for that disruption to arrive, we set out to use data to help workers, employers, and policymakers prepare for it now. By identifying which occupations, industries, and regions face the greatest automation risk, our team aims to deliver a data-driven tool that informs AI strategy, HR analytics, and workforce planning across both the private sector and government agencies. Ultimately, we hope this work helps organizations anticipate disruption before it happens, design targeted reskilling pathways for the workers most affected, and build a more resilient, adaptable workforce nationwide.
